Frequently Asked Questions (Technology and Service)

Q: Can you provide a material certificate? What does the certificate look like?

A: We provide an original Mill Test Certificate (MTC) issued by the steel mill with every shipment. This certificate includes the heat number, batch number, chemical composition, mechanical properties, and applicable standards. If third-party inspection (such as SGS) is required, it can be commissioned in advance; the inspection fee will be negotiated between both parties.

Q: What are theoretical and actual weight calculations? Which is more cost-effective?

A: Theoretical weight calculation is the weight calculated based on the nominal dimensions and density of the steel (usually 7.85 grams per cubic centimeter). Actual weight calculation is the result of weighing. For standard-length steel plates and sections, the difference is small; for hot-rolled coils and pipes, due to thickness tolerances and trimming, the actual weight is often slightly lower than the theoretical weight. Generally, buyers prefer actual weight calculation because it is more accurate. We can use either method for pricing according to customer requirements.

Q: What are the advantages of Liuzhou Steel's hot-rolled coils compared to other steel mills?

A: Liuzhou Steel's hot-rolled coils enjoy high brand recognition in the South China and Southwest China markets. Their advantages lie in their flat shape, minimal variation within the same plate, uniform material quality, and high degree of automation in their production lines, making them suitable for cold rolling and precision tube manufacturing. As a strategic partner of Liuzhou Steel, we can prioritize securing specifications and delivery dates, reducing customer waiting time.

Q: Can you handle small-batch, multi-specification LCL (Less than Container Load) shipments?

A: Yes. This is a strength of our supply chain services. We can consolidate small quantities of different specifications, materials, and even from different steel mills into one container to meet customer needs for trial orders or repair replenishment. LCL shipments incur some sorting and warehousing costs, but the overall cost is still lower than purchasing each specification individually with minimum order quantities.

Q: If I lack knowledge about steel, can you help me select the right type?

A: Of course. You only need to provide the end use, operating environment (indoor/outdoor, whether it will be exposed to corrosive media), required strength, and the country where the project is located. Our technical team will recommend the most economical and suitable materials and specifications, and provide alternative solutions for reference.
